Of course we had to have a gondola ride. Not cheap but they reduced the price by 50 Euros when we walked away the first time. That's our gondolier. Most don't sing or wear the traditional hats, and most wear sunnies. They do all have the striped shirts though, his is underneath the white cover shirt some have for some reason. We passed churches from as far back as the 13th century and the houses where Marco Polo and Casanova were born. The smaller canals are really something to see. Doors opening onto the canals so people can just get off boats to them.
